🌳🔌 As power cuts become an unwelcome norm to prevent wildfires, our elderly care sector faces unwarranted challenges. Imagine - a sudden blackout with limited warning, affecting the very places where the most vulnerable reside. 👵🏣Witnessing this in recent events near Boulder, Colorado, where a utility's preemptive strike to cut power impacted an assisted living facility, it's a stark reminder. Staff there were given a mere 75 minutes to secure safety and comfort for nearly 500 residents—quite the feat. 🚨The crux? Amidst emergencies, how prepared are we to ensure those dependent on us aren't left in the cold, both figuratively and literally? It's not about blame; it's a call for better communication and cohesive disaster preparedness, including utilities, care homes, and the wider emergency services network. 🤝While we advocate for the safety of our elderly and the resilience of the facilities caring for them, let's engage in open conversations on further improving our readiness. Your thoughts on enhancing our preparation for such eventualities are invaluable.📞 Reach out or visit https://lnkd.in/eEcUYpP8 if this resonates with you, or simply drop your comments below. 🖊️#ElderlyCare #EmergencyPreparedness #PowerCuts
